Pretzel Chicken Tenders With Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce

This is a fun recipe to both make and eat. Your kids will be sure to love this yummy treat!

Equipment

  • Frying pan
  • Cast iron skillet

Ingredients
  

  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 2 cups pretzels I like to use Snack Factory's pretzels, but you can use whatever you have on hand
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsps milk
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • avocado oil for frying see why this is one of the better oils here

Homemade Honey Mustard Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsps Dijon mustard
  • 1-2 tbsps honey

Instructions
 

  • Pour pretzels into your blender or food processor and pulse until pretzels are broken into small pieces. Transfer to a small bowl and set aside. 
  • In a separate bowl, combine eggs and milk to make the egg wash. Set aside. 
  • In a separate shallow bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  • Heat avocado oil in a pan on medium high heat. 
  • Dip your chicken into the flour, then egg wash, and roll into pretzel crumbs. 
  • When oil is hot, slowly place your chicken strips into the pan. Let cook about 3-4 minutes per side or until internal thermometer measures 165 degrees Fahrenheit. 
  • Remove chicken from pan and let cool.

Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce

  • Combine mayonnaise, honey and Dijon mustard in a bowl. Store in an airtight container if using at a later time. 
  • Serve chicken tenders with dipping sauce.
