If you’re tired of serving chicken nuggets and French fries to your kiddos and want to spice things up, you have GOT to try one of my all time favorite chicken recipes: pretzel chicken tenders!
This is an easy recipe that uses quick, simple ingredients you and your kids are sure to love. The crunchy and salty bits from the pretzel served with a yummy, creamy sauce is a sure fire hit with even the pickiest eaters.
You can of course choose not to make the sauce and just purchase pre-made honey mustard from your local grocery store. But the homemade version is definitely worth a try. The best part is that you can customize it to fit your family’s preferences and dietary restrictions!
Some of my favorite ways that I like to serve this is with sweet potato fries or fresh vegetables. My family also enjoys using the sauce with other recipes, such as a marinade for chicken wings, a base for homemade salad dressings, or even our fish recipes.

- 2 tbsps Dijon mustard
- 1-2 tbsps honey
Instructions
- Pour pretzels into your blender or food processor and pulse until pretzels are broken into small pieces. Transfer to a small bowl and set aside.

- Heat avocado oil in a pan on medium high heat.

Variations:
Sour lover:
If you like a sour kick, you can add a little bit of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to make a tangy dipping sauce!
Mayonnaise Substitute:
You can swap the mayonnaise for sour cream.
Honey Substitute:
All variations of honey will work for this recipe. I have tried raw honey, conventional and organic honey. If you’re looking for a vegan substitute, you can use brown sugar or agave.
Egg Free:
If you have an egg allergy, you can use vegan mayo as a 1:1 substitute. Primal kitchen has a great vegan mayo. Instead of the egg wash, you can coat the chicken with vegan mayo.
Conclusion:
That’s it! Hopefully you will give these pretzel chicken tenders a try and tell me what you think!
