Yes, there are times where inductions may be necessary. But the sudden increase in inductions that occur over the holidays is not due to health reasons. It is not a coincidence.

Ultimately mamas, you are in control. YOU know what is best for you and your baby.

And before I get in the comments "MY induction was necessary" or "I chose to have an induction it went great": no one is saying inductions can't be good or that they aren't necessary. But the fact is there are MANY, MANY moms out there that have had birth trauma as a result of their failed, unnecessary induction.

You're getting to know this new little addition, who only wants you, all the time.

You're recovering from birth while other parts of your body are used for nourishment.

You're up at night while your hubby (and his useless nips) lay peacefully unbothered. 😂

It's intimidating. It's isolating. But it is also such an incredibly special time.

Mama, if you're struggling, know that you are not alone. The newborn days will be over before you know it. ❤️

Almost every episode of Bluey has me in a puddle of tears. At this point, I put it on for me and not my kids. 😂

The way that they cover such heavy topics in such a gentle way for kids is truly unmatched.

If you have Disney+, I highly recommend watching the episode "Onesies" which hints at Chili's sister Brandy's infertility struggles.

Even though I have not had infertility struggles myself, I have family, friends, colleagues and clients who have. As a birth AND bereavement doula, I try to hold space for all mamas.

No but real talk this is exactly why I recommend opting out of cervical checks. Not only are they uncomfortable during labor, but they can also throw you completely out of the zone!

There are a lot of women who have had traumatic births. And because they haven't fully processed their experience, they sometimes trauma dump.

It may be with good intentions, almost like a bigger sister warning a younger sister of what's to come because she wasn't warned.

But it can leave an expecting mama feeling really fearful of the process of birth.

If you're expecting and you find yourself in a conversation where mamas are trying to one-up each other's birth trauma, you can try practicing these phrases:

♡ "Right now I am focused on promoting positive energy for my birth"
♡ "Do you know of anyone who has had a positive birth story? I would love to get in touch with them!"
♡ "Let's talk about something else! Have you watched (insert show or movie)? I heard it was really good!"

It can be really hard to make travel plans with family based on your due date, which is really more of a guess date.

Those last weeks leading up to baby arriving are both mentally and physically exhausting. Every day feels incredibly long and it feels like you're going to be pregnant forever.

This is EXACTLY why I recommend to mamas that have family flying in to book their tickets AFTER their due date.

If they come too early and baby isn't here yet, you're going to feel pressure. But if they come after baby gets here, they'll be able to help out around the house while you rest and bond with your little one.

Ok just because breastfeeding is natural does not

Ok just because breastfeeding is natural does not mean it comes naturally???

I eventually was able to get it down, and with baby #2 it's been really easy. But as a first time mom? Holy moly it was tough those first few weeks!

Here are some tips to make breastfeeding a little bit easier on you:

♡ Cooling and heating gel packs: these helped me so much when my milk supply was coming in and I felt engorged!
♡ Skin to skin as often as possible. This will help establish your milk supply and it helps promote bonding.
♡ EAT: Real meals and not girl dinners! Making milk requires extra calories!
♡ Be kind to yourself! It's hard, but it WILL get easier!
