Disclaimer #2: I am NOT affiliated with Sonic in any way and was NOT sponsored to write this post. I am just addicted to silly little beverages.

If you know me in real life, you know I will go to bat for Sonic. Sonic has my whole entire heart.
And yes, it may be the ice. But it’s also the surprisingly large sugar free offerings they have for drinks. Usually, fast food places have maybe one or two sugar free syrups available if you’re lucky. But Sonic gives you a bunch of different ones so that you don’t feel left out.
Whether you’re diabetic, prediabetic, or just looking to cut down on your sugar intake, Sonic can be a good place if you’re looking to customize your drink to fit your diet preferences!
What Sugar Free Flavors Are Available At Sonic?
Sonic has a really good variety of sugar free flavors available!
Sonic’s sugar free flavors are mango, cherry, blackberry, peach and raspberry.
What Fresh Fruit Is Available At Sonic?
For your sugar free water, I would stick to just lemon or lime. Sonic offers other fruit such as strawberries and cherries, but those are not sugar free.
Here are the best sugar free Sonic water combinations!
*These drinks are not actually named what I am naming them. Please do not go up to the counter and order the drinks by the names in this article. I am just naming these drink combos so that you have an idea of what they could taste like.
Cherry and Lime
The cherry limeade at Sonic is really popular, so this is kind of like a play on that flavor combo.
There isn’t an option to do this on the app, but I have gotten this drink with soda water too!
Here’s how to order it:
- Route 44 water (regular or soda)
- Sugar free cherry syrup
- Fresh lime
Peach Mango Spritz
Peach and mango always remind me of summer. When paired with notes from the fresh citrus, you get a really refreshing beverage.
Here’s how to order it:
- Route 44 water (regular or soda)
- Sugar free peach syrup
- Sugar free mango syrup
- Fresh lime (or lemon)
Very Berry
I think in general, berry is a very safe flavor. You really can never go wrong with berry flavored anything.
Here’s how to order it:
- Route 44 water (regular or soda)
- Sugar free raspberry syrup
- Sugar free blackberry syrup
Peach and Cherry Cobbler
The tartness from the cherry syrup complements the sweet that comes from the peach syrup wonderfully, creating a very balanced flavor profile.
Here’s how to order it:
- Route 44 water (regular or soda)
- Sugar free peach syrup
- Sugar free cherry syrup
Mango Blackberry Lemonade
Piggybacking offer of the sweet and sour combo, mango and blackberry also go very well together! Adding fresh lemon slices gives the drink an extra “oomph”!
Here’s how to order it:
- Route 44 water (regular or soda)
- Sugar free mango syrup
- Sugar free blackberry syrup
- Fresh lemon
Raspberry Refresher
If you’re looking for a drink that will perk up your day and isn’t too sweet, I highly recommend giving this drink combo a try!
Here’s how to order it:
- Route 44 water (regular or soda)
- Sugar free raspberry syrup
- Fresh lime
- Fresh lemon
Honorable Mentions (that aren’t sugar free)
Sonic Mermaid Water
Probably the most common water combination is the Sonic Mermaid Water which is a route 44 water with sugar free raspberry, sugar free peach, strawberries and lemon.
I left mermaid water out of this list because I wanted to keep all of the combinations truly sugar free. Because the strawberries do have sugar, the mermaid water at Sonic is not entirely sugar free.
For more information about the Sonic mermaid water, I’ve written a whole post about it. You can find that here.
Here’s how to order it:
- Route 44 water (regular or soda)
- Sugar free raspberry syrup
- Sugar free peach syrup
- Strawberry fruit (you can ask for light strawberry)
- Fresh lemon
Peach Ring
Another really popular water combination is the Sonic Peach Ring, which is a route 44 water with sugar free raspberry syrup, sugar free peach syrup, cranberry syrup and lemons.
I left the peach ring out of this list because the cranberry syrup is not sugar free. You can, of course, ask for light cranberry syrup to cut down on the amount of added sugar in your drink.
Here’s how to order it:
- Route 44 water (regular or soda)
- Sugar free raspberry syrup
- Sugar free peach syrup
- Cranberry syrup
- Fresh lemon
Is Sonic Ocean Water Sugar Free?
If you are unfamiliar with Sonic’s menu, you may think that their Ocean Water is sugar free. After all, how could something with “water” in the name be bad for you?
Unfortunately, Sonic’s Ocean Water is NOT sugar free. In fact, Sonic’s Ocean Water isn’t even water at all. The base they use is Sprite.
Now, you can customize your Ocean Water to have less sugar by swapping the Sprite for Sprite Zero, but because the blue coconut flavor is not sugar free, there is (currently) no way to order the Ocean Water sugar free.
Sonic does carry an Ocean Water drink mix that is surprisingly sugar free. You can purchase it right from Amazon, linked here.
Conclusion
I hope you were able to get some ideas about the best sugar free Sonic water combinations.
